John Garamendi Mixer, April 21, 2005
Event Summary

Dear Friends,

On April 21, 2005 a number of us attended the John Garamendi mixer at
the La Jolla Country Club.  The Garamendi mixer was forwarded to you by
Pantea as a part of a list of upcoming local events.

As you may recall, Mr. Garamendi is currently California's Insurance
Commissioner and he is a candidate for Lt. Governor in 2006.  Mr.
Garamendi discussed his plans for the future and his relevant experience
and contributions to the State of California over the last 40 years.

Mr. Garamendi also fielded questions from the audience regarding their
concerns for California's future, ranging from the environment to social
issues.  During his speech Mr. Garamendi referenced our group (the
Iranian American Democrats) and stated that he would like to work with
us and address the issues we are concerned about.  We received this
honorable mention due to the number of us present at the mixer (hint
hint).

I would like to thank those of you who were in attendance and encourage
the rest of you to attend these local events in the future.  We can best
address the issues which affect our community by making our presence
known to our political figures at all levels of government.  After all,
today's Lt. Governor, could be tomorrow's President.

On June 15, 2005 a Garamendi event will be held once again in San
Diego.  We will forward the relevant information to you as soon as
possible.

We also had the pleasure of meeting Francine Busby at the Garamendi
mixer.  Ms. Busby is running against Congressman Randy "Duke"
Cunningham in 2006.  For those of you who reside in La Jolla or Carmel
Valley, Ms. Busby would be your Congresswoman if elected in 2006.  Ms.
Busby stated that she would like to meet with our group and discuss the
issues Iranian Americans are concerned about.

Also in July we hope to host a mixer with Congresswoman Susan Davis.
We have been working hard at cultivating relationships with political
figures within the DNC in an effort to increase our community's access to
government officials at all levels.

Again, I would like to take a moment and thank those of you who
attended the mixer and to encourage everyone to attend future events
and help us work towards securing a better future for our community by
educating, empowering & unifying Iranian American Democrats in San
Diego politics!

Regards,

Anita Tassviri
