IADSD was established in November 2004 as a nonprofit charter
organization under the San Diego County Democratic Party. Under our
bylaws, IADSD holds annual elections for a President (Shahriar Afshar),
Vice President (Shahin Rahimi), Secretary (Anita Tassviri), and Treasurer
(Pantea Hadaegh). IADSD membership includes registered Democrats &
future Democrats, citizens & non-citizens, senior citizens & students, and
YOU!  IADSD will be networking with other Iranian American Democratic
clubs across the country.

Mission

IADSD’s mission is to secure a better future for our community by
educating, empowering & unifying Iranian  American Democrats in San
Diego politics.

Democrats to vote in San Diego, supporting the appointment and election
of Iranian American Democrats to San Diego political offices, and create a
solid community voting block in San Diego City Council, California State

Officer Biographies

Shahriar Afshar (President)













Shahriar Afshar has been involved in Iranian American issues since 1997,
as President & Founder of the Iranian Trade Association. He has
presented at dozens of seminars and conferences on trade, policy, and
Iranian issues from San Diego to Washington, DC with members of the
US Congress and Fortune 100 companies. Mr. Afshar also worked for the
City of San Diego for ten years before joining the Port of San Diego’s
Real Estate Department in 2003. He now has his own Government
Relations consulting practice, Afshar & Associates. He can be reached at

Shahin Rahimi (Vice President)

Shahin Rahimi graduated from UCSD in 1998 with a Political Science
degree and finished California Western School of Law in the spring of
2002 with a Juris Doctorate.  During his 3 years at CWSL he made the
Dean's List and led the PMELSA (Persian and Middle Eastern Law Student
Association) as VP and President.  He currently prosecutes complex,
securities fraud class-actions  for Bernstein Litowitz Berger & Grossman -
a national leader in securities fraud prosecution.




Anita Tassviri (Secretary)












Anita Tassviri is a native San Diegan.  She attended the University of
California at Los Angeles where she graduated in June of 1999 with a
degree in Political Science with an emphasis in International Relations.   
Thereafter, Ms. Tassviri attended the University of San Diego School of
Law, graduating with J.D. degree in December of 2002. At University of
San Diego, Ms. Tassviri was the Chair of the Pro Bono Legal Advocates
Domestic Violence Clinic for 2001-2002 and the recipient of the Wiley W.
Manuel Award for Pro Bono Service. Ms. Tassviri was also the recipient of
The Distinguished Service Award from The San Diego Volunteer Lawyer
Program in 2001.  Ms. Tassviri is currently the Secretary of the Iranian
American Democrats of San Diego County.



Pantea Hadaegh (Treasurer)
